About the Founder/Director

JACKIE MARTIN is a wife and a mother of three adult sons. She graduated from, what was then, the North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and later received her Masters Degree from Georgia State University. Growing up, Jackie had several influential mentors that helped guide her to her passion. She is now an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with over 40 years in the medical field. Eight of her years as a nurse practitioner were spent in pediatrics.
In her pediatrics practice, Jackie saw a need for a program that would help guide at risk children, address the obstacles they face, and help them broaden their possibilities and opportunities. Out of this need came the vision for the Just Us Girls Mentoring Program. The program started as a yearly workshop in 2003 and became an ongoing 501© 3 in 2008, with Jackie as its founder and Executive Director. Jackie believes that just one committed person can make a difference in the life of any child.
